My legs are two gazelles
shuddering with anticipation
yearning to leap
into your arms.

My knees are two chipmunks
craving flight to their burrow
safe from lethal scorn.

My torso yearns to bare her nakedness,
but only halfway:
my mind is not certain
your eyes are kind.

My heart is an aged lioness
long in tooth
with a lion’s mane
hunter-weary yet still vigorous
with octopus paws
and a thundering roar.

My belly is a swirling vortex of stars
black and violet as arctic night
with emerald streaks
that draw in, pulse out
like a whirlpool portal
to another dimension.

My head is a fountain of gardens
gushing blooms in endless cascade:
a tropical extravagance
of petal, leaf and stem.

My mouth is a parched wasteland
craving the rainstorm
of your reassuring “yes”.

I waited ‘til I couldn’t
stand it anymore.
I really hope
you
text
me
back.
