Susana has been playing piano and keyboard since she was six years old. She studied classical piano with three different instructors, the last of which studied with the eminent Van Cliburn, and competed and placed in piano competitions. She also studied flute and played in various orchestras throughout her youth.

Susana served as a piano accompanist and music arranger for community performances in the Los Angeles area — often creating accompaniment and arrangements by ear from scratch. During college, she played original and cover songs at a weekly piano bar at the Bruin Woods resort.

Susana has been writing original songs and compositions since she was eight, and won a competition for her piece, “Steeds of September”.  She wrote, arranged, and performed a duet of her original song “Together” at her high school graduation. A friend helped produce a demo of her original songs, but instead of shopping the demo around L.A., she pursued academics in Mexico City.

As a singer with a wide range (D3 – G#5), Susana considers herself juiciest as a contralto. She’s studied voice with Kent Burke, Elena Maietta, and Karen Alexander. She’s performed with local choirs in Pasadena, the Sacramento Gospel Choir, and in various musical theater productions.  She also performed as a backup singer for the cover band Baccará in Guadalajara, México, including on local television.

Susana has a versatile style, but especially enjoys singing R&B, blue-eyed soul, pop, and heartfelt ballads. She is a fluent Spanish speaker and sings in Spanish.
